I first met David Solano (Coach) when I was in the 5th grade in 2001. He asked me if I wanted to play basketball on his team. I joined because it seemed interesting and it gave me something to do over the summer. I didn't know he would become a life long friend, more than showing me the game of basketball, he took a young man and taught me how to become the best I can be at every aspect of life through hard work.

It all started in 1998 when I was one of David Solano's first students as well as one of the first girls he ever coached. Since then we've kept in touch. I have been a witness to a lot of the accomplishments he has had, as well as to a lot of the struggles he has had. One thing I know about David Solano is that giving up is not an option. A few years back he mentioned this non profit he wished to build, to give back to the Maryvale community. I am happy and very proud of him for making it happen. He is bringing opportunity, confidence and activity to the kids in the neighborhood.
